I just wanted to mention that one thing that impressed me in this meta analysis was that as the mode of communication we were studying changed our comments and interaction changed. Most notably by the end when we were working on print it turned very solitary. There were very few comments on other's posts and the kind of comments were more sophisticated like we knew that it was in print and therefore had to be intelligent. I will expand more on this later.
Also, it was interesting to me that there seemed to be a different leader in each unit. It was like someone was more inclined via natural ability or interest to take the lead. This would make an interesting study on group dynamics.
I will add more to this later either in the post or in the comments, I just really wanted to get this up as a resource so that we could all start making some headway.

I have noticed that the table doesn't fit here very well sorry. It is just the most organized way for me to review everything, it helps me to remember what I read.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to expand a bit on my thoughts on how our interactions mirrored those of the time we were studying. When we did our oral unit our project was the group recitation. We practiced together, practiced with our roommates and simulated friends (computers reading aloud). In the written knowledge unit we seemed to form little guilds. You are responsible for preparing the material, you for the actual text, you for putting it on our medium. We worked together but it was much more specialized than before. Now with our print unit we collaborate. This is my project, but I respectfully seek your input, that may or may not be included. In our segmentation we are able to be more complete and in depth but we are cut off from each other.
